Presented by the St. Louis County Library, Union will appear to discuss her new book, a collection of essays titled, “We’re Going to Need More Wine: Stories that are Funny, Complicated and True.”
Union will be at Library Headquarters on Saturday, Oct. 28, beginning at 7 p.m. Her appearance includes an onstage interview conducted by fashion columnist Debra Bass. Union will sign books following the presentation.
In her book, Union introduces a powerful collection of essays on gender, sexuality, race, beauty, Hollywood, and what it means to be a modern woman, infused with her unique wisdom and deep humor. She shares astonishingly personal about power, color, gender, feminism, and fame, as well as tackles a range of experiences, including bullying, beauty standards, and competition between women in Hollywood.
The actress/activist Union currently stars as the title character in the critically acclaimed drama, “Being Mary Jane” on BET. She is an outspoken activist for women’s reproductive health and victims of sexual assault.
