As a breast cancer survivor, she devotes much of her time not only to taking care of patients with cancer, but also actively fundraising for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Breast Cancer Care and the American Cancer Society. She once rode her bicycle from London to Paris to raise money for breast cancer research and support.
Dr. Lynn completed medical school at Georgetown University in Washington, DC and her residency at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis and is currently working on her Masters in Business Administration. She practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology at Capital Region Medical Center and the University of Missouri – Columbia before relocating to St. Louis. In addition to overseeing the Center for Sexual Health, she is the Medical Student Clerkship Assistant Director and enjoys teaching medical students and residents. She was formerly a board member and then Medical Director of the Missouri Family Health Council.
Dr. David Caplin, a reconstructive surgeon, and Dr. Marlys Schuh, a surgical oncologist, founded Gateway to Hope in 2005 after witnessing needless suffering and in some cases death of breast cancer patients who delayed treatment because they could not afford insurance. Since inception, Gateway to Hope has helped nearly 1,000 individuals by paying health insurance premiums or reimbursing patients throughout breast cancer treatment. This allows them direct access to comprehensive care through the physicians and facilities of their choice. Gateway to Hope also assists patients by relieving financial stresses caused by the inability to earn income during breast cancer treatment. Funds are utilized to assist with rent or mortgage payments, gas cards to get to and from treatment, utilities, oral prescription medications and lymphedema garments.
